Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has placed himself under home quarantine at his Ranchi residence after a minister from his cabinet and an MLA of his party he had met recently were found to be infected with novel Coronavirus. According to the reports, the Chief Minister recently came in contact with minister Mithilesh Thakur, who was later found to be positive for COVID-19. Another Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Mathura Mahato also tested positive for the disease on Tuesday.

As soon as CM Soren got to know about Mathura Mahato and Thakur's health status, he quarantined himself at his home and even asked other staff members of the Jharkhand CM Office to place themselves under home quarantine. According to a PTI report, Soren's samples are expected to be tested for COVID-19 later in evening.

CM informed the development on Wednesday afternoon and wished a speedy recovery of Mathura Mahato and Mithilesh Thakur.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Chief Minister said, "My fellow minister of the cabinet Mithilesh Thakur and our party MLA Mathura Mahato have been found infected with Coronavirus. Both of them are currently undergoing treatment in a government hospital. As a precaution, I will also be in self-isolation for the next few days from today."

In the following tweets, Chief Minister said that all this while, he'll continue performing all the important work, and urged citizens to take follow social distancing norms.

"You are again urged to avoid going at crowded areas as much as possible. Make sure to use a mask, if there is no mask, then cover your face with a cloth. Like always, I would like to remind you to keep distance between yourself."
