Jewar Airport: Asia’s Largest Airport To Give Employment To Lakhs, Says Aviation Minister Scindia

The strategic position of Jewar airport will provide job opportunities to the youth of nearby areas like Aligarh, Hapur, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr.

Jewar Airport/ Noida International Airport: Uttar Pradesh is set to become the first state to have five international airports as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for Jewar Airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar district today. The five international airports include the recently inaugurated Kushinagar airport and the under-construction Ayodhya airport. 

The strategic position of Jewar airport will provide job opportunities to the youth of nearby areas like Aligarh, Hapur, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr. The fact was also reiterated by the Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday.

Over 1 lakh People To Get Employment - Jyotiraditya Scindia

Scindia said, "Jewar Airport (in Greater Noida) will boost the development of the nation. It will be Asia's largest airport. It will also create employment opportunities for more than 1 lakh people. UP had only 2 airports in the last 70 years but now Jewar Airport will be the 10th airport to be built in UP in the last 7 years. Soon we will get to see 17 airports in the state. Previously, only 25 destinations were covered but now 80 destinations have been covered.”

Jewar Airport Will Be The Largest Airport In The Country

Noida International Airport is being developed in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode and will be the largest airport in the country on completion. According to the officials, it will be developed in four phases and the cost of the entire project is estimated to be at Rs 30,000 crores. As per the Ministry of Civil Aviation, it is a greenfield project which will be implemented in four phases. The first phase will be completed in 36 months. According to PTI, the completion of the first phase of the airport will have the capacity to serve 1.2 crore passengers annually and it will cost approximately Rs 8,914 crore.
