New Delhi: A Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) aspirant from Jharkhand was declared dead after he was rushed to a hospital in Kota on suddenly falling ill while chatting with friends in his PG room, news agency PTI quoted police as saying.
The boy, a class 12 student, had recently taken the JEE-Mains test and scored good marks, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhawani Singh said.
According to the report, the boy, hailing from Jamshedpur, was engaged in conversation with friends in their room at the paying guest facility late Thursday night when he suddenly fell ill. His friends initially asked him to rest and reached out to his family members. However, as his condition deteriorated, they called an ambulance and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, police said.
According to DSP Singh, the boy had no medical history, though he was suffering from mild cold and cough. He also confirmed that an autopsy was underway at MBS Hospital in the city, and results are awaited.
Addressing the media outside the mortuary on Friday afternoon, his father said his son was a very good student who had secured a 98 percentile in the recent JEE-Mains exam, confident of admission to IIT Mumbai.
He also asserted that his son had never experienced any serious health issues, and they would speak daily. However, he mentioned not speaking with his son on Thursday. While acknowledging occasional mentions of study pressure at the coaching institute, his father said his son never contemplated suicide. He urged for a thorough and impartial investigation to ascertain the cause of his son's demise, PTI reported.
He also said that his son was in Kota for two years and was promoted to the higher batch for extraordinary performance in his test in the coaching institute in class 11.
