Jayant Chaudhary, Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal, 9 Others Elected Unopposed To Rajya Sabha From UP
Rajya Sabha Polls: Of the 11 candidates elected unopposed from Uttar Pradesh, one each are from RLD and SP while one is an independent candidate and eight candidates are from BJP.
New Delhi: All eleven candidates nominated for Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh have been elected unopposed. Initially 12 candidates had filed nominations with the Election Commission but the candidature of one of them, Mani Phalahari Bapu was cancelled.
Biennial election for Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take place on June 10 across 15 states out of which polls will now not take place for Uttar Pradesh as all the candidates have been elected unopposed on Friday.
Of the eleven candidates elected, one each are from Rashtriya Lok Dal and Samajwadi Party, one independent candidate and eight are from Bharatiya Janata Party, said the Election Commission.
Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary and Javed Ali Khan from Samajwadi Party are among the candidates elected for Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. One independent candidate, Kapil Sibal is also on the list.

From ruling Bharatiya Janata Party are eight candidates including Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal, former MLA from Gorakhpur constituency who had left his seat for Yogi Adityanath to contest in the recent Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Laxmikant Vajpayee, former state unit chief and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Singh Nagar of BJP are also in the list of elected candidates. Present chairman of the U.P. Pichhrha Varg Vitt Vikas Nigam, Baburam Nishad was also given the ticket by the saffron party and was also elected unopposed.
Two women who were given tickets by BJP — Darshana Singh and Sangeeta Yadav — are also among the eight candidates who won seats in Rajya Sabha.
