New Delhi: One terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out in the Binner area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday, according to the police.


The J&K police recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition.


The slain Killed terrorist has been identified as Irshad Ahmed Bhat of Pattan, Baramulla. He was active since May 2022 and linked with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). "One AK rifle, 2 magazines & 30 rounds recovered," Kashmir Police informed in a tweet.






Two LeT Ultras Arrested in Sopore


In another incident, security forces on Saturday arrested two LeT terrorists from Sopore in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.


Two pistols and two pistol magazines along with 11 live cartridges were also recovered from the arrested LeT ultras, news agency PTI reported a police spokesperson as saying.


The arrested duo were identified as Tariq Ahmad Wani and Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, both residents of Rangreth in Srinagar. They were chased and arrested by Sopore police after they fled from a checking point at Hadipora Rafiabad.






"Police in Sopore (Baramulla district) along with security forces have arrested two terrorists linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession," he said.


The spokesperson said that security forces established a joint checkpoint at Hadipora-Rafiabad based on specific input about the movement of terrorists.


"During checking, the joint party intercepted two suspicious persons coming from Lorihama link road towards Haddipora who on seeing joint naka party tried to escape from the spot but were tactfully apprehended," he said, as quoted by PTI.
