Srinagar: At least one person was killed and another seriously injured in separate terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on Saturday.


Unidentified gunmen shot at both civilians from a close range in different parts of the city, said police officials.

A local named Majeed Guru was fired at from point blank range in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar area.


The man, who sustained injuries to his chest, face and abdomen, was rushed to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.


Dr Kanwar Jeet Singh, the medical superintendent of Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital, said that the man had succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.


In another attack, unknown gunmen fired at a local identified as Mohd Shafi Dar from a close range in Srinagar’s SD Colony Batmaloo.


He was rushed to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital where his health condition is said to be critical.


In another terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, a group of militants hurled a grenade towards a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker of 40 Battalion at KP Road in Anantnag district.

There were, however, no casualties as the grenade missed the target and exploded nearby without causing any loss, a police official said.


The area was cordoned off after the attack.
