Jammu: Terrorists shot dead a former special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Polic, his wife, and daughter in their home at Hariparigam village in Pulwama district.


The incident took place on Sunday in which their daughter has also sustained critical injuries in the attack. The security forces have cordoned off and launched a search operation to track down the assailants, the police said.

According to the Kashmir Zone Police, terrorists barged into the house of SPO Fayaz Ahmad of Hariparigam, Awantipora & fired indiscriminately. In this terror incident, he along with his wife & daughter received critical injuries. 



They were rushed to a local hospital where the SPO and his wife Raja Begum succumbed to injuries. Their daughter Rafia was shifted to a hospital for treatment but later succumbed to fatal injuries.


Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the brutal attack and called it an act of cowardice.



The last rites of the former SPO and his family were performed on Monday morning.



Twin explosions in Jammu and Kashmir


The incident came on a day when terrorists struck an Air Force base in Jammu in the first drone strike on an Indian military installation.


Two Air Force personnel suffered minor injuries in the explosions at the high-security airport located around 14 km from the border with Pakistan.


Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Sunday termed the twin explosions at the high-security Indian Air Force station in the Jammu airport a terror attack. The first blast ripped off the roof of a single-storey building at the technical area of the airport manned by the IAF in the Satwari area of the city. The second one was on the ground, officials said. He informed that police, IAF, and other agencies and investigating the attack.
