Jammu and Kashmir: Railway officials on Sunday conducted a thorough inspection of the newly constructed Chenab Rail Bridge, which is the highest railway bridge in the world. The rail services on the line, which is built between Sangaldan in Ramban district and Reasi will begin soon.






Vishesh Mahajan, Reasi Deputy Commissioner, calling is an "engineering marvel of the modern world" said: "The day when the train will reach Reasi will be a game-changing day for the district... It is a proud moment for us as our engineers have created a marvel. It is the 8th wonder of the world. The bridge, the wind speed, its strength, is wonderful... The exact date cannot be said, but I hope the day comes soon..."






Deepak Kumar, Engineer Konkan Railways said: "Today wagon tower has reached Resai station...We are very happy and proud that we have succeeded. The labourers and engineers have been working hard for a long time and today they have finally succeeded. The rail service will start soon on this bridge."






Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project To Be Completed By Year End


Besides this, the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project is set to be completed by the end of this year, Northern Railways said.


The USBRL project also includes the Banihal-Sangaldan section that is 48.1 km long. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024.


In October 2009, phase I of the USBRL project was inaugurated, covering the 118 km long Qazigund-Baramulla section.


Subsequently, the 18 km long Banihal-Qazigund section was iaugurated in June 2013, and the Udhampur-Katra section that is 25 km long was inaugurated in July 2014.
