A video of passengers sleeping in front of the toilets in a coach of Chhattisgarh Express went viral on social media causing outrage among the internet users.

The viral video shows passengers blocking the entry to toilet, leaving no room for passengers to acess the lavaratory. It also showed a man sitting in the narrow gap between the two compartments.

Soon after the 27-second clip was shared on social media, the Indian Railways issued a response to the video.

Railway Seva took cognizance of the issue and alerted the concerned authorities to take action in the matter. The official accounts of the Divisional Railway Manager, Agra, and the Divisional Railway Manager, Raipur were also tagged in the post so that the concerned authorities could act in the issue.

“This picture is of Chhattisgarh Express (train no 18237). Seat, floor, gate, gallery, bathroom...wherever people found a place, they occupied it,” Sachin Gupta, the X user wrote in its viral video.

In a similar incident in April, the Indian Railways responded to the complaint of a man on X as he posted a video of ticketless passengers overcrowding the sleeper coach of the Suhaildev Superfast Express in which he was travelling.

“Sleeper class has become general coach,” Sumit, the X user who uploaded the video said in his post. “Most of the people are travelling without tickets while some have general tickets,” he added.

From the purported video, it could be seen that passengers were sitting on the floor of the overcrowded sleeper coach since they did not have reserved tickets.
