A major terrorist activity was averted on Sunday afternoon as the Indian army foiled an infiltration bid across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

According to the initial inputs, a terrorist was killed and two others were injured during the cross firing between the Indian troops and infiltrators. The army also seized one AK-47 assault rifle, two AK-47 magazines, and some eatables from the spot.

Elaborating on the incident, Jammu Defence Pro said, "A group of terrorists were attempting to infiltrate across LoC in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch district today. Indian Army troops detected the terrorists and immediately engaged them resulting in on the spot killing of one terrorist and serious injuries to two"

"Pakistan markings on the eatables and a few other items clearly indicate the complicity of Pakistan in sponsoring terror activists in Jammu and Kashmir," the spokesman said, adding that "Subsequent search in the area showed that the terrorist's body had been dragged away from the site."

As per the Army officials, Pakistan troops violated ceasefire at many locations on Sunday, including Krishna Ghati, Mankote and Mendhar sectors of Poonch district.

The reports have quoted the Army sources saying that post this incident, the security forces are maintaining a robust counter-infiltration grid along the LoC to foil any other nefarious design of Pakistan.

The incident has come two days after Pakistan army resorted to ceasefire violation along the LOC by firing small arms and mortars, resulting in injuries to six civilians at separate places.

According to the reports, six civilians including a woman were injured as India and Pakistan troops exchanged fire along the Line of Control in the Rangward Chowkibal area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district o Friday, August 7.
