Jammu & Kashmir: NIA Attaches Property Of Hizbul Mujahideen OGW In Sarpanch Killing Case
NIA attached the property of an OGW linked to Hizbul Mujahideen for aiding in the targeted killing of a Sarpanch in Shopian, Kashmir.
In a significant move to dismantle the terror network in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday attached the property of an overground worker (OGW) associated with the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. The action is linked to the case of the targeted killing of a Sarpanch in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
According to a press statement issued by the NIA, the attached property belongs to Nasir Rashid Bhat, an OGW of Hizbul Mujahideen. The property, a residential house located in the village of Tengpora in Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir, was attached under Section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1947, following orders from the NIA Special Judge in Jammu, it informed.

NIA Points To Larger Hizbul Conspiracy In Adoora-Kulgam Sarpanch Killing Case
The NIA spokesman stated that Bhat, along with other members of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organisation, was involved in the killing of the Adoora-Kulgam Sarpanch on 11th March 2022. The attack was allegedly part of a larger Hizbul conspiracy aimed at disturbing India’s integrity, sovereignty, and security through violent attacks and killings.
The investigation, which was taken over by the NIA from the Kulgam police, revealed that Bhat had provided his Alto car to the terrorists. He was also involved in conducting reconnaissance of the Sarpanch’s house and informed the Hizbul terrorists about the target’s presence. On the day of the attack, Bhat used his car to transport the assailants to the vicinity of the Sarpanch’s house.
The NIA has chargesheeted six accused in the murder case, and the trial against them is ongoing.
