Militant Fires Gunshots At CRPF Vehicle In J-K's Srinagar, Alert Personnel Thwart Attack

Jammu-Kashmir News: A lone militant fired shots from his pistol, aiming at a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) vehicle in the vicinity of Srinagar's Khwaja Bazaar chowk.

A militant on Monday targeted a moving vehicle of security forces in the Khanyar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar but failed to afflict any injuries. The lone militant fired shots from his pistol, aiming at a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) vehicle in the vicinity of Khwaja Bazaar chowk at approximately 7:00 pm, news agency PTI reported officials as saying. Following the attack, the perpetrator hastily retreated from the scene. There were no casualties or injuries resulting from the incident.

Srinagar Police provided details, stating, "There was an attempted attack by a pistol-wielding terrorist on a BP vehicle of CRPF in Khanyar area, which was repelled by alert personnel. The terrorist was chased away by personnel, who exhibited wise restraint due to the potential for collateral damage. No injuries to life or property have been reported."

Meanwhile, in Anantnag, security forces continued their anti-terror operation in the Gadole forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. On the sixth day of the operation, two bodies were discovered. One of the deceased has been identified as Pradeep, the soldier who tragically lost his life in an encounter with terrorists last Wednesday. The identity of the other deceased individual is currently under verification, news agency PTI reported sources as saying.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were martyred in last Wednesday.

In response to these tragic events, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has vowed to seek retribution for the fallen officers and soldier, pledging unwavering resolve in the fight against terrorism.
