An encounter that ensued on Sunday night in the Larrow-Parigam area of Jammu-Kashmir's Pulwama is still underway. Police and security forces are on the job, Kashmir Zone Police informed. "Encounter has started in Larrow- Parigam area of Pulwama. Police & Security Forces are on the job. Further details shall follow (sic)," a post by Kashmir Zone Police read on 'X', formerly Twitter. A visual from the spot showed vehicles of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed at the scene.

More details are awaited about the operation in Pulwama.


Earlier, two terror modules were busted in Jammu & Kashmir which led to the arrest of eight suspects and recovery of arms and ammunition.


In the first operation, the joint forces of Baramulla Police and the Indian Army's 16 Sikh Light Infantry arrested three cross-border terror associates and recovered grenades from them on August 8.


In the second operation, five accused were arrested by security forces from Powarian Thajal of Uri on August 11 in a joint operation. 


Baramulla Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure said, "A total of five terrorists in another module were arrested from Powarian Thajal of the Uri area on August 11 in a joint operation", news agency ANI reported.


He also informed that authorities seized four hand grenades, two pistols, two pistol magazines, ten live rounds, and Rs 50,000 cash amount from the terrorists. SSP Nagpure further stated a four-wheeler vehicle was also seized from their possession.


The investigation of the two modules is underway within the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and Arms Act.


In another operation, a Joint Operation was launched by Indian Army, BSF, and JKP from Aug 15 to 18 in Machhal Sector, Kupwara based on concrete intelligence inputs by agencies on attempts by terrorists to induct war-like stores into Kashmir Valley from across the Line of Control, as per a police statement.


 "During the search operations, huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered at around 1100 hours on 18 Aug to include five AK Series Rifles, eight AK Magazines, seven 9mm Pistols, fifteen 9mm Pistol Magazines, four Hand Grenades, 7.62 mm AK Rounds, 7.62 mm AP Rounds and 9 mm Rounds and other incriminating material," the statement informed.
