A BSF jawan was was killed in cross-border firing on border outposts (BoPs) along the International Border (IB) in Jammu's Samba district after Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing in the Ramgarh and Arnia sectors late last night, as reported by the news agency ANI.






Earlier, Block Medical Officer Ramgarh in J&K's Samba District, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, said that a BSF jawan was injured in the cross-border firing, and he was brought at 1 AM. Singh further stated that the jawan was given adequate treatment.


“A BSF official was injured in the cross-border firing here (in Ramgarh). He was brought here at 1 am and was given adequate treatment by our team (at the hospital), who were on high alert as we had prior knowledge of the incident,” said Block Medical Officer Ramgarh in J&K's Samba District, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, as quoted by the news agency PTI.






According to the official, the firing targeting border outposts in the district is the third ceasefire violation in 24 days by the Pakistani Rangers along the IB at the Jammu frontier, PTI reported. The injured jawan, who was evacuated, was later moved to the GMC Hospital in Jammu, he said. "During night intervening 8/9 Nov 2023, Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing in the Ramgarh area, which was befittingly responded to by BSF troops," the BSF said in a statement, as quoted by PTI.


"The firing started around 2-2.30 am. The firing has happened after 4-5 years...," a local resident said, as quoted by the news agency ANI. 






A resident of Ramgarh village in Samba District said, “The land of our village lies adjacent to the ‘no man's land’. There was a round of firing right before 12 am, which was followed by heavy rounds of firing from 12:20 am,” as quoted by PTI.
