According to the Police, the dead person has been identified as Tariq Ahmed Paul, who was abducted on Tuesday after he was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from his village Pinjoora in Shopian.
His body was found from Kungnoo Turkwangam area about 10 km away from his village. IGP kashmir Vijay Kumar, while confirming the incident, said that the body was found in an isolated spot and it had torture marks.
Locals said that four militants were killed in he house of Tariq a couple of days ago at Pinjoora and thus he was suspected to be a security forces informer.
Police have informed that a case has been registered and “investigations continue.”

Earlier in the day, security forces gunned down as many as five militants after hours long gunfight in Sugoo Hendhama area of Shopian. Security forces also informed that including today's operation, a total of 14 militants have been eliminated in the last three days in the southern Kashmir district.
"Five unidentified militants have been killed in the operation, and dead bodies have been recovered. We have also recovered arms and ammunitions," IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar said after the operation.
"The encounter began at Sugoo village on Wednesday morning after security forces came under fire from hiding terrorists," Kumar said while speaking to media.
This is the third major encounter in the district in less than a week. So far 20 terrorists have been killed in the month of June, the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
Police have also informed that mobile internet has been suspended in the Shopian district for precautionary measures.
