Jammu and Kashmir: In a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam three Bharatiya Janata Party workers were killed after being fired at. The three leaders were identified as Fida Hussain Yatoo, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam. Of them, Fida Hussain Yatoo was district youth General Secretary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the killing of the workers as he called them 'bright youngsters'. "I condemn the killing of 3 of our young Karyakartas. They were bright youngsters doing excellent work in Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls rest in peace," said PM Modi.


The incident took place in YK Pora, Kulgam. After the terrorists fired upon them, they were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they were declared brought dead.

In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir police have said that a case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of law. An investigation is in progress. The area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that terrorists fired upon three BJP workers - identified as district youth General Secretary Fida Hussain Yatoo, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam - at Eidgah Y.K. Pora, injuring them. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead," a police officer was quoted as saying news agency IANS.

Police has registered a case and investigation is in progress.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah condemned the killing.  "Terrible news from Kulgam district of South Kashmir. I unequivocally condemn the targeted killing of the 3 BJP workers in a terror attack. May Allah grant them place in Jannat & may their families find strength during this difficult time," he tweeted.
