NIA Arrests 2 For Harbouring Terrorists Involved In Killing Of 5 Civilains At J-K's Dhangri

The NIA detained two people for harbouring terrorists who killed five innocent civilians in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district's Dhangri hamlet.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained two people for allegedly harbouring terrorists who killed seven innocent civilians in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district earlier this year in Dhangri village, news agency PTI reported. Nisar Ahmed alias 'Haji Nisar' and Mushtaq Hussain, both of whom are now held at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal (Jammu) in another case, were formally arrested by the NIA on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the central agency. They were taken into NIA custody for 12 days after being brought before the Special NIA Court in Jammu on Friday.

On January 1, terrorists opened fire on members of the minority group in Dhangri hamlet, killing five people.

When an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) left behind by the terrorists before departing the hamlet exploded, two more people were murdered and numerous more were injured.

A team of NIA investigators camped out in the hilly Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi districts of J-K for a considerable amount of time during the course of the investigation. They looked into a large number of suspicious entities before focusing on the two accused who had "provided logistics support to the terrorists for more than two months," according to the statement.

The complaint was first filed at Rajouri Police Station under several provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Arms Act. On January 13, the NIA re-registered the case.

“They had provided logistics support to the terrorists for more than two months and had sheltered them in a hideout, constructed by them on the directions of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handlers namely Saifullah alias Sajid Jutt, Abu Qatal alias Qatal Sindhi and Mohd Qasim,” the agency was quoted by PTI in its report.

The case is still being investigated, according to the statement.
