Jammu & Kashmir: One personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been injured in an attack by terrorists on its convoy in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday morning. Also Read: 40 CRPF Men, 5 Pregnant Women Among 227 New Covid-19 Cases In J&K; Tally Rises To 8,246


The Convoy was attacked by terrorists with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Gangoo area of Pulwama. As per a statement by the CRPF, It is suspected that the attack was to target a CRPF convoy.

Firing ensued after the blast.

The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched.

The  CRPF personnel suffered injuries in his hands due to the blast, but his condition is stated to be stable, PTI reported.

The security forces fired few shots in the air after the blast.

It is to be noted that an IED blast by Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists on February 14, 2019 in Pulwama, had killed 40 CRPF personnel, leading to escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan. An IED-laden vehicle was rammed by a terrorist in a CRPF convoy.

On Thursday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested one more accused in Pulwama IED blast case which took place on February 14, last year in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.
