Srinagar: J&K police has arrested three overground workers of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Bandipore district and recovered arms and ammunition besides incriminating materials from their possession. As per the information, the police got a tip-off two days back that some miscreants at the behest of local active terrorists of LeT hoisted Pakistani flags at the main bazaar at Hajin area with the aim to create fear psychosis and incite anti-national feelings. The police immediately swung into action and arrested three persons who were involved in this anti-national activity and registered an FIR under relevant sections of law. The arrested persons, as per the police have been identified as Mujeeb shamas, Tanveer Ahmad Mir and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh. The associated held are residents of Mir Mohalla Hajin.

The trio confessed to their involvement in the crime and said they had raised the flags to commemorate Pakistan Defence Day. On their interrogation, police recovered one hand grenade, cloth, sewing machine, and other incriminating material used in preparing flags from them.

Just two days back, a large cache of arms and ammunition, including a Pika machine gun, was recovered from a terrorist hideout in a joint operation carried out by the police and the army in the Doda district, as per the news agency IANS. The operation was launched after security forces received a specific input about a terrorist hideout in the area.

Based on specific input of a terrorist hideout, a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation in Chirala, Doda and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, on September 2, four terror associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) have been apprehended by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district. The arrests took place during a cordon and search operation in Pethkoot area of Beerwah in Budgam.
