Jahangirpuri Violence | Arrested Conspirator Ansar Earlier Involved In Assault, Gambling: Delhi Police
Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Dependra Pathak, said Ansar, whose name is there in the FIR, has been arrested in connection with the matter.
New Delhi: One of the conspirators named Ansar has been arrested during investigation of the Jahangirpuri violence case.
Ansar, according to Delhi Police, was found to be previously involved in two cases of assault and was also arrested repeatedly under preventive sections and booked five times under the Gambling Act and Arms Act, ANI reported.
Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Dependra Pathak, said Ansar, whose name is there in the FIR, has been arrested in connection with the matter.
Pathak said the identification of perpetrators is going on and the police is investigating the matter.
“We will be looking into CCTV footage and human intelligence inputs. Stringent action will be taken against those involved in rioting,” he added.
The Special Commissioner of Police said the people are requested to inform the police if suspicious activities take place in their area or any group indulge in argument, ANI reported.
“We have arrested 14 people, 7 cases were filed and weapons were recovered,” the top cop added.
The Special Commissioner of Police further said adequate amount of police have been deployed in the area.
“Illegal weapons were used during Shobhayatra as verbal and physical altercations broke,” said Pathak.
“Police was throughout there during the procession, they formed human chain and released tear gas to control the situation,” he added.
Earlier on Saturday evening, clashes broke out between two groups after stone-pelting incidents were reported from the Jahangirpuri area in the national capital during a Hanuman Jayanti procession.
