Jahangiripuri Violence: Opposition Slams Kejriwal, Says Its Happening Under A 'Big Conspiracy'

Taking to Twitter, Tiwari urged the people to maintain peace and harmony.

New Delhi: After violence erupted during a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the Jahangir Puri area in Delhi on Saturday, BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said that the incident is happening "under a big conspiracy in the national capital."

Taking to Twitter, Tiwari urged the people to maintain peace and harmony.

Meanwhile, the BJP leader Kapil Mishra termed the stone-pelting incident a 'terror attack'. "The settlement of Bangladeshi infiltrators is now daring to attack the citizens of India. Now it has become necessary to remove illegal infiltrators from the country by checking their papers," Mishra tweeted.

Blaming Kejriwal's leadership, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Anil Chaudhary said, "Delhi is collapsing under Arvind Kejriwal's leadership."

Regarding stone-pelting on Lord Hanuman's procession held in Jahangir Puri, Chaudhary said, "I appeal to all the people to maintain peace, no one can spoil the mutual harmony and brotherhood of Delhi, so do not go on rumours and give your support in making peace."

Calling the acts of violence and stone-pelting in the national capital "unfortunate," Lt Governor Anil Baijal stated that no one responsible for these actions will be spared. He also assessed the situation with the CP of Delhi and urged the people to keep the peace, news agency ANI reported.

On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to two top Delhi Police officers about the incident of violence and directed them to take necessary action, official sources close to PTI said.

As per the sources, the home minister spoke to the Commissioner of Police and Special Commissioner (law and order) and asked them to take necessary action.

The police force also apprised the top functionaries of the Union Home Ministry about the violence. The home ministry has given necessary directions to the Delhi Police and is keeping a close watch on the situation, the sources added.

According to officials, several vehicles have been vandalised by the miscreants and police personnel were injured in the incident.

"A clash broke out between two communities. But we have deployed adequate forces and senior officers are also on the spot. The situation is being brought under control now," news agency PTI quoted a senior police officer as saying.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on the incident, said, "I appeal to everyone to maintain peace as the country can not progress without it. Central govt has the responsibility to maintain peace in the national capital; appeal to people to maintain peace."

According to reports, around 200 Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed along with Delhi Police to control the situation.

Additional forces have also been deployed in other sensitive areas, besides those adjoining Jahangirpuri.

CP, Delhi, after the incident, said, "The situation is under control. An adequate additional force has been deployed in Jahangirpuri & other sensitive areas. Senior officers have been asked to remain in the field and closely supervise the law & order situation & undertake patrolling."
