J&K: Indian Army And Police Launch Massive Search Op In Gurez, Huge Cache Of Arms, Ammunition Recovered

Search Operations In Gurez: On September 27, the Indian Army commenced a search operation along Naushera Nard until the LoC in Gurez sector based on intelligence from police and human sources.

Indian Army along with the Jammu and Kashmir police launched a massive search operation Gurez area of Bandipora and after 3 days they recovered arms and ammunition near LOC as per a statement by CO, 36 Rashtriya Rifles on Sa, reports ANI. 

In the Gurez area of Jammu and Kashmir, a huge cache of weapons and ammunition, including seven AK-47 assault rifles and Chinese grenades, was found on Friday, according to PTI. According to PTI, the stash was found in the Nowshehra Nard region of the frontier Gurez sector in the Bandipora district of north Kashmir.

Chinar Corps' official Twitter account shared the news in a tweet, "Op was launched by #IndianArmy & JKP on 29 Sep 22. The team recovered a huge cache of arms & ammunition to include 7xAK Rifles, 2xPistols, 21xAK Magazines, 13xGrenades, & other war-like stores close to LoC in Gurez Sector, Bandipora."

The information was also shared by the official Twitter handle of Kashmir Zone Police, “Bandipora Police and Army recovered huge #arms & ammunition including 7 AK-47 rifles, 2 Pistols, 21 AK Magazines, 1190 rounds, 132 pistol rounds, 13 grenades & other #incriminating materials in Nowshehra Nard, Gurez area of #Bandipora. Case registered.”

A Significant Setback For Terror Groups Operating From The Other Side Of LoC: 

Seven AK rifles, two Chinese pistols, thirteen Chinese grenades, 21 AK magazines, four pistol magazines, 1190 AK rounds, and 132 pistol rounds were discovered during the digging, according to PRO Defence Col. Emron Musavi of Srinagar, reports PTI.

Col. Musavi described it as a significant setback to terrorist organisations operating on the other side of the Line of Control (LoC), saying it prevented them (terrorist groups) from delivering a sizable cache of weapons, ammunition, and grenades intended to spark violence and unrest in the Valley.

After a search of three days, a hideout along the Nala, quite close to the LoC was discovered on Thursday, the PRO further said.

According to the PRO, "On September 27, the Indian Army commenced a search operation along Naushera Nard until the LoC in Gurez sector based on intelligence from police and human sources."
