Two days after the killing of Kashmiri Pandit in Shopian, Imran Bashir Ganie of Harmen, a terrorist with the Lashkar-e-Taiba lobbed a hand grenade in Shopian killing two UP workers, according to authorities, news agency ANI reported. He was later nabbed by Jammu and Kashmir police.

Imran Bashir Ganie, a member of the outlawed group LeT who killed two labourers with a grenade in Herman, Shopian, was apprehended by authorities there. The workers, named as Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar, both of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital, where they passed away.

“The area has been cordoned off by the Jammu and Kashmir Police following the investigation”, ADGP Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar was quoted by ANI in its report.

In response to the recent killings, Kavinder Gupta, former J&K Dy CM said: "Killing of non-local labourers Monish Kumar & Ram Sagar is unfortunate & wrong. I also feel that these are also done on the basis of statements given by leaders sitting in Kashmir. They should stop giving such statements & advocating for Pakistan."

"Under the leadership of PM Modi, work to uproot Pakistan-sponsored terrorism from India is being done. We will take action by identifying such people. You will see the results soon," UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said.

Two terrorists with ties to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were defeated in the Anantnag encounter earlier this month.

The Kashmir Zone Police claims that the terrorists were involved in several incidents of terrorism-related crimes.

“Two local categorised terrorists linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT killed in encounter. They were involved in several terror crime cases,” Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted.
