'Insult To Women Will Not Be Tolerated,' Says Jaya Bachchan As Delegation Meets Maha Guv Over Remarks Against Supriya Sule

A women's delegation met Maharashtra Governor today following State minister Abdul Sattar's alleged objectionable remarks against NCP MP and Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule.

New Delhi: A women's delegation met Maharashtra Governor on Monday following State minister Abdul Sattar's alleged objectionable remarks against NCP MP and Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule. The delegation comprised leaders from Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), NCP, and other like-minded parties including the Samajwadi Party.

Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan said that any insult to women will not be tolerated. "Today we've met the Governor and we will soon meet the President too. The insult of women will not be tolerated. Any person including politicians who makes objectional comments against women should be thrown out to set an example" as ANI quoted her saying.

Abdul Sattar allegedly abused the NCP MP during a televised interview when he was being asked about the allegations of bribes being offered.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has filed a complaint with the police against the Maharashtra minister.

The NCP workers, in their complaint filed at the police station in suburban Mumbai’s Borivali through advocate Inderpal Singh, accused Sattar of ‘insulting the entire women community of the country’.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Balasahebchi Shiv Sena spokesperson Deepak Kesrkar issued an apology on behalf Sattar. "As spokesperson, I have apologised on behalf of Abdul Sattar. We respect Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, but there is no question of giving resignation," Kesrkar said.
