India vs Corona 3.0 e-Conclave LIVE: ABP News is celebrating & saluting these doctors, medical professionals, and healthcare workers who have selflessly led the fight against Covid-19.
While speaking to ABP News, Dr Monika Langeh of the Emergency Medicine said that the Spanish flu which broke in India few years ago, had four waves.
She also said that the second wave came and caused several deaths as few people became careless. She also alerted that as the lockdowns in several states have started ending gradually and people continue to remain careless, third wave might also hit the country.
Langeh also underlined the fact that people should get vaccinated at the earliest possible.
Veteran Actor Shatrughan Singha joined the ABP India vs Corona 3.0 e-conclave and salute the medical professionals and health workers on National Doctor's day. Shatrughan Sinha hailed the doctors for their relentless work during the Covid pandemic. He also said that the motive of the government to vaccinate the country looks good but it lacks the implementation on the ground. Shatrughan Sinha who has been the former health minister of India said that it is not only the govt's duty to protect us from the virus but Covid appropriate behavior by the people will stand as a pillar against the pandemic and will give strength to the doctors and nurses as well. So it is very necessary to wear masks, follow social distancing and other Covid guidelines.
Dr Buddhiraja further said that the biggest mistake of India was thinking that we have won against Covid and we won't hit by the second wave so this time we should assume that someday India will experience the third Covid wave and we should prepare our infrastructure, facilities, and policies accordingly. He said that we should prepare for the peak, not the plateau.
Dr Sandeep Buddhiraja from Max hospital said that this a fight between human and virus and as we are trying to adjust and find a new normal to survive, Covid is also changing its behaviour looking for survival. Dr Buddhuraja said that as witnessed in the last 200 years there are two ways to fight against it first is vaccination and the second is her immunity. he said that if major population in the world is infected or vaccinated then we can still reach a point of an epidemic stage, else it is not possible.
When asked whether children are really at risk of being most at risk of the third wave, Dr. Sanjay Rai, based on the serosurvey conducted in India, the previous waves have infected children as much as adults. However, children either showed no symptoms or very mild symptoms which is why many assume that the third wave would be very dangerous for children but that's not the case. People who haven't been infected with the virus till now are at risk of getting the infection whether they are children or adults said.
Dr Sanjay Rai from AIIMS discussed the vaccines for children and said that parents should be scared as trials being conducted for children and very soon we will be getting vaccines and that will protect the children of the country from being infected by Covid or facing any severe issues. He also said that till we get those vaccines it is necessary for parents to provide nutrient-rich food to children and build their immunity so their body could combat the virus
Dr Shashank Joshi, Maharashtra doctor's association said," We haven't come out of second-wave yet and there are still districts of concern in Maharashtra. It is dependant on Human behavior how strictly they are following covid guidelines and that earlier we can get out this issue and get back to normal"
Dr Mala Srivastava from Gangaram Hospital joined the conclave and busted myths related to vaccines and pregnant women. She said that there is np problem on women taking the Coronavirus jab and lactating women who have recovered from covid or have begun recovering can breastfeed their children.
Actor Gurmeet Choudhury also urged people to get vaccinated and said that there are no major side effects by taking the jab. He requested his fans to stay away from ruours and forwarded messages as vaccinating yourself is the only way to limit the Covid spread. Gurmeet asked people to think about their loved ones and protect them by taking their jab.
He also said while battling Covid they battled a lot of emotional trauma but both Debina and him motivated each other said to themselves that they will be fine soon. He also said that Covid gave them time to think about others who are in need and who do not have basic amenities to battle the Coronavirus so he and his wife after recovering tried to help others with their NGO and provided Covid essentials to the needy.
Actor Gurmeet Choudhary joined the ABP India vs Corona e-conclave he said that when he got to know that he and wife Debina have tested positive for Coronavirus they got scared a bit but they immediately consulted the doctor. He said that after that his entire family got infected and everyone was taking care of each other and we used to call the doctors for the smallest thing and Doctors are Gods, they saved our lives.
Talking about the experience when he was battling Covid he said that for both him and Debina those 14 days looked like 14 years of exile as they couldn't meet everyone or go out. they were facing a lot of challenges and health issues but doctors admitted them to the hospital and took great care of them.
Dr Sameer Verma who treated Gurmeet and his family cooperated well and followed all the instructions suggested by the doctors. His parents were also admitted and it was a challenge for the doctors as well but they helped them recover.
Responding to the question that if there is an increase in heart patients after Covid, Dr Naresh Trehan said that patients who already have heart-related issues are getting more impacted in Covid and even the young people who had no complaints of heart ailments are facing complications and end up suffering from long Covid. Many of them have such serious issues that only 25 per cent of their heart is functioning and 75 per cent has been affected by Covid. He said that Covid is affecting everyone who is not following Covid appropriate behaviour, that is the only way we can stay protected.
Dr Naresh Trehan, Heart Specialist joined ABP e-conclave and discussed how doctors also went thorugh emotional stress during the second wave. He also said that it is very necessary for govt to take steps if Covid appropriate behaviour is not followed then govt should take action against them. Dr Trehan also said that we will win the battle against Covid only once 80 per cent people of the country will be vaccinated.
Dr Arora further focused on Vaccine passport approval by EU and said “It’s about the timing and the government has also expressed its concerns and the Indian pharma companies are going to provide the dossiers soon to the concerned authorities which should be resolved by 4-6 weeks. These two vaccines should be approved by August,”
Dr NK Arora, NTAGI head joined the discussion on ABP News and said that vaccination drive will be ramped up in the next 2 days. He also spoke on the vaccine does gap and said that Sputnik doses will be administered between 2-3 weeks, while Moderna's vaccine will have to administered between 4-6 weeks. Dr Arora said that even foreign expert studies have confirmed that more gap between Covishield vaccine doses are much more effective than administering it withing 2-3 weeks.
Dr Uma Thakur, Professor, and Head, Dept Of Rheumatology said that mothers should be careful if they are Covid affected and guide children to followo the same. People should get vaccinated in large numbers the only we will be able to control the spread of Covid. Dr Thakur also said post Covid treatment is as necessary as taking care of yourself while you are battling through Covid. She advised that if you are facing any issues even after recovering from Covid then don't hesitate or be scared but visit your doctr who can help you.
Dr Anjan Trikha also joined the panel and said that following Covid appropriate behavior is very necessary to combat the Third Covid wave. He said that India is well equipped with the medical equipments to battle the third wave but it won't be done without the support of the people. He also said that influencers, celebrities, actors, actresses and sportsperson should set an example and wear masks in public places so people would follow the same. They should also guide people and make them understand the importance of Covid jab
Dr Navneet Wig, Chairman AIIMS Task Force joined the conversation on India vs Corona 3.0 e-Conclave and discussed how to stop the third wave to hit the country. Dr Wig said that it is only possible if the Covid positivity rate to remain below 1 per cent. Dr. Wig also said that if there are more than 50 per cent beds available then only states should think about unlocking. He further said that this lockdown and unlock process will continue for 2-3 years.
As per the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the country has lost 1,500 doctors to Covid-19 in the past one year. Pune IMA has said that it has lost four doctors to Covid-19.In addition to the physical impact of being infected, doctors have also had to fight the emotional trauma of continuing to work without any leave, despite having a close relative, loved one or friends infected with Covid-19.
