Covid Tally Update: Continuing with the downward trend, India has reported 48,698 new Covid cases, 64,818 recoveries, and 1,183 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Covid Vaccination Drive


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 31 Crore. On the fifth day of the new phase of COVID-19 Vaccination more than 54.48 lakh Vaccine Doses administered till 7 pm on Friday. More than 8.04 Cr Vaccine doses were administered in the age group 18-44.


According to a PTI report, the Union health ministry on Friday urged eight states and union territories to take up immediate containment measures including preventing crowds, conducting widespread testing as well as increasing vaccine coverage on a priority basis in districts where the Delta Plus variant of coronavirus has been detected. The measures were suggested by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan in a letter to Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Haryana.


India has so far reported nearly 50 cases of Delta Plus Variant SARS-CoV-2 variant, with Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu leading with the maximum number of cases, the Union Health Ministry said at a press conference on Friday.


Sujeet Kumar Singh, director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said in India, COVID-19 ‘variants of concerns’ were found to be distributed in 174 districts in 35 States. The highest numbers were reported from districts in Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat.
