'In Next 3-4 Months...': Sharad Pawar On Opposition Unity Ahead Of 2024 Lok Sabha Polls

NCP Chief stated: "We are trying for it (to bring together Opposition parties). It won't happen immediately but I think in the next 3 to 4 months of discussion this can be done."

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, in order to take opposition unity forward, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar on Friday said that the unity will not be forged overnight, however, he assured that in "the next three to four months of discussions this can be done," news agency ANI reported.

Speaking about the opposition unity, NCP Chief stated: "We are trying for it (to bring together Opposition parties). It won't happen immediately but I think in the next 3 to 4 months of discussion this can be done. It's the wish of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar that we should come together for a meeting. Its date is not yet decided but whenever it happens I will be there."

“People want change and to bring that there is no single party that can take responsibility for the entire country. Many Opposition political parties have their govt in many states, for example, Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. So we are thinking that we all should be in touch with such leaders and if possible try to work on a common minimum programme and give alternatives to the citizens of the nation,” Sharad Pawar said.

Pawar further confirmed his attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress-led administration in Karnataka on May 20.

Informedly, he shared that he had been contacted by the Congress President with regards to the Karnataka CM's oath-taking event, and various influential figures have urged him to be present at the ceremony. As a result, he plans to travel to Bengaluru the following day in order to be present at Siddaramaih's swearing-in ceremony.

"I received a call from the Congress President regarding the swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka CM. He said several top leaders are invited and also requested me to attend the ceremony. Therefore, I will go to Karnataka tomorrow to attend the oath-taking ceremony," he stated.
