New Delhi: As heavy rain lashed most parts of northern and southern regions, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a light shower with a cloudy sky for most states and Union Territories for the coming days. The weather department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in most places and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and interiors of Karnataka and Kerala.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Tamil Nadu and some districts of Karnataka. Fairly widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm is likely over Goa. The same is expected for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until Saturday; north Karnataka on Wednesday; south interior Karnataka until Saturday; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Thursday and Friday, and Kerala and Mahe on Saturday.


A yellow alert has been issued for 10 districts of Karnataka on Tuesday. The IMD added that 20 districts will also witness thunderstorms for the next two days.


The weatherman has predicted rainfall in the northern districts of Kalaburagi, Yadgiri, Raichur, Koppala, Gadag, Belagavi on Wednesday.


Light rainfall or drizzle likely in Delhi today, 


As the capital city is witnessing the second prolonged spell of rainfall within three weeks, the IMD has predicted a cloudy sky and light rain for Delhi.


The national capital recorded 128.2 mm of rainfall so far this month, the highest for October since 1956. According to the IMD, the city recorded 236.2 mm of rainfall in October 1956. Delhi's all-time record rainfall for the month is 238.2 mm, which was reported in 1954.


IMD issued a yellow alert and forecast isolated and heavy rainfall for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh for the next two to three days.

Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on Wednesday.
