In India, if a citizen wants to get a passport made, he needs to register online on the Passport Seva Portal. The process of applying online using the Passport Seva Portal is quite easy. However, after completing the initial registration process online, you will require to visit your local Passport Service Center or the Regional Passport Office to complete the rest of the steps.


Steps To Apply For Passport Online:


Whenever you apply for a passport, you should keep in mind that you need to carry your original papers during the appointment visit to the Passport Service Center or Regional Passport Office. 


1. First of all, you need to visit the online Passport Seva Portal and click on the 'Register Now' tab.
2. Fill in all your details here and select which passport office you want to visit for verification.
3. Retype the Captcha and click on 'Register'.
4. Now login to the portal with your Login ID.
5. Click on New passport.
6. Make sure you don't have an existing passport while applying for a new one.
7. If you have an Indian passport, then you have to apply according to your mentioned category.
8. Now fill in all the details and click 'submit'.
9. After this, click on 'save and submit'.
10. Schedule a passport office appointment.
11. Fill your application fee online.
12. Print your Application Receipt.
13. You would receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number.


The further process would then be completed at your local Passport Service Center or Regional Passport Office.
