Hyderabad Will Be Renamed As Bhagyanagar If BJP Comes To Power, Says Yogi Adityanath Ahead Of GHMC Polls

The BJP has deployed CM Yogi as one of the star campaigners for the GHMC civic polls in Hyderabad.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, while campaigning for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), said that if Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in Telangana, the name of Hyderabad can turn into “Bhagyanagar”. The BJP has deployed CM Yogi as one of the star campaigners for the GHMC civic polls in Hyderabad. I said - why not. I told them that we renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj after BJP came into power in UP. Then why Hyderabad can't be renamed as Bhagyanagar?" UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while addressing a rally on Saturday. Counting the abrogation of Article 370, as one of the party’s achievements, CM Yogi further said, "Under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah repealed Article 370, giving full freedom to the people of Hyderabad and Telangana to purchase land in Jammu and Kashmir." Meanwhile, on Friday, BJP national president JP Nadda conducted various roadshows in Hyderabad. While the party has appointed Bhupendra Yadav national general secretary to manage the party's performance in the GHMC elections. The Telangana CM also promised free power to salons, laundries, and Dhobi Ghats and also stated to waive off tax on transport vehicles for the six months during the lockdown period (April-September). Polls for GHMC will be held on December 1 and counting of votes will be taken up on December 4. The 150 seats corporate council currently comprises 99 corporators of TRS, 44 of AIMIM, 4 BJP, 2 Congress, and 1 from TDP.
