Hyderabad news: In Hyderabad, a 24-year-old polytechnic student fell to his death from the third floor of VV Pride Hotel in Chandanagar while attending a birthday celebration with friends. Initial reports suggested that his fall occurred after being chased by a dog, but CCTV footage has since provided a clearer understanding of the events.

The victim has been identified as Uday Kumar. The incident took place at Annapurna Enclave of Chandanagar on October 20

The incident took place during a birthday celebration, which began in Ashok Nagar, Jyoti Nagar, with a cake-cutting event before the group moved to the hotel. According to early accounts, Uday stepped out onto the balcony and was allegedly chased by a dog, leading him to panic and accidentally fall through a window.

However, CCTV footage from the hotel revealed a different story. The video showed Uday, seemingly playful, chasing a dog on the hotel's gallery. In the process of pursuit, he lost his balance near a window, causing him to fall to the ground. He succumbed to his injuries immediately after the fall.

Chandanagar police have registered a case and shifted Uday’s body to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem to further investigate the incident. The hotel’s CCTV footage has become a key piece of evidence, dispelling earlier confusion about the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.

Meanwhile, in January last year, a Swiggy delivery agent named Mohammed Rizwan succumbed to injuries after jumping from the third floor of an apartment in Hyderabad while being chased by a customer's pet dog. Mohammed Rizwan, in an attempt to escape the dog, fell from the building’s first floor.

The Banjara Hills Police have registered a case against Shobana, the dog's owner. Further investigations are underway.
