New Delhi: With the alleged gangrape case in Hyderabad becoming a political hotspot, BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao published photos and videos of the juvenile girl and a boy on Saturday and requested authorities to clarify whether the kid in the photo was the son of an AIMIM MLA.
He explained it was not his responsibility to investigate, but because he was asked to give proof, he showed a brief video.
Manickam Tagore, the head of the Telangana Congress, criticised Raghunandan Rao and questioned how he had access to a video that only officers and criminals were meant to have.
Tagore criticised the BJP MLA's decision to divulge the victim's identify, saying he should be charged for compromising the victim's identity.
This sparked a social media spat between Manickam Tagore and Raghunandan, with the BJP MLA arguing that the video does not reveal the identify of the victim.
"Why does Congress always panic when their blood brothers MIM+TRS are in trouble? Evidence has been put out to nail the lies of police and force them to act on the involvement of MLA's son in Hyderabad Rape," he tweeted.
The Congress leader stated that the party is not concerned with 'cheap TRPs,' but rather with the victim and her family, as well as the Supreme Court standards.
Taking to Twitter, Tagore said, "Unlike for you, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ is not just a slogan. Every sister & mother is Bharat Mata for us. Our fight is for truth."
"You had shared the identification of Telugu daughter in public domain against Supreme Court order for your political gains and we won’t allow the daughter of Telangana to be insulted by Sanghis / TRS / Majilis . We won’t Sanghi’s/ Majlis to do match fixing," the Congress leader said.
The BJP MLA stated that as a lawyer, he was aware of the Supreme Court norms and that the identity of the underage girl could not be determined based on the video.
