New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list of candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections 2022, reported news agency ANI. In its first list, the party has announced 62 candidates who will contest from different constituencies of the state. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will contest the election from Seraj constituency in Mandi district while Anil Sharma is fielded from Mandi constituency and Satpal Singh Satti to contest from Una.
A five-time MLA, Thakur will contest for the seventh time in the state polls which is slated to take place on November 12.
Meanwhile the Congress has also released its first list of 46 candidates, fielding its legislature party leader Mukesh Agnihotri from Haroli in Una district.
Former state Congress chiefs Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Kuldeep Singh Rathore had been fielded from Nadaun and Theog respectively, reported news agency PTI.
The party has fielded most of its sitting MLAs, including former chief minister Virbhadra Singh's son Vikramaditya Singh from the Shimla Rural constituency.

Congress leader Aditya Vikram Singh who was hoping for a renomination after an unsuccessful contest in the last election from Banjar seat resigned from the party in protest after the list was announced by the party.
Singh had bagged more than 45 per cent votes in the 2017 Assembly elections and was defeated by BJP Surender Shourie. Shourie has been given ticket from the same Banjar seat this year as well.
