'He's A Crazy Nut, Completely': Real Estate Doyen K P Singh Comments On George Soros. WATCH

Check out what Indian real estate doyen K P Singh has to say about the billionaire financier, who sparked an outrage in India when characterising Adani-Hindenburg turmoil as a 'democratic revolution'.

Real estate doyen K P Singh labelled billionaire financier George Soros as a "crazy nut" and an old "barking dog" after he said the Adani-Hindenburg saga would damage Prime Minister Narendra Modi's power grab.

Singh, who led India's largest listed private real estate company DLF Ltd and is known for his candour, told news agency PTI that India has the best democratically elected Prime Minister, who has been elected with a landslide majority not once, but twice.

The news agency posted a video excerpt of the interview on Twitter, in which Singh can be seen saying: "When you do something well, so many dogs bark. Do you respond to each dog? No. Dogs bark but quieten after some time."

Singh said on Soros' statement at the Munich Security Conference, "the fact of the matter is that when you rise, others try to pull you down." "He is a crazy nut, completely," he added.

"Although he is younger than me. I am 93 (and he is 92) but at that age, there is sometimes confused thinking, by nature," he remarked during an hour-long conversation in which he spoke clearly about a variety of issues ranging from urbanisation to his love of golf and art, PTI reported.

Soros had stated on Thursday that "Modi and business tycoon Adani are close allies; their fate is intertwined" and the conglomerate's troubles following allegations of fraud by a US short-seller would "significantly weaken Modi's stranglehold on India's federal government" and "open the door to push for much needed institutional reforms".

On Friday, the ruling BJP accused Soros of attempting to destroy India's democracy.

Singh stated that government and ruling party officials have appropriately responded to Soros' remarks.

Soros, he claimed, is "nothing," and his "nonsense" views will not harm the country's democracy.

When asked what he would tell Soros if they met, Singh replied, "I'll say you're completely wrong. I believe India has the best democratically elected Prime Minister. In which democracy have so many votes been cast for a Prime Minister, not once (but) twice (in democratic elections)?" Without commenting on Soros' motives, DLF's chairman emeritus questioned, "Is he feeling jealous of him (Modi)?"

"Can India be governed by a heterogeneous government?" he wondered. "India needs a strong-willed person that's why votes are given to him. Who the hell is he? What George Soros got to do with it. Completely nonsense." Apples-to-airports conglomerate Adani group has been under significant pressure since the US short-seller Hindenburg Research on January 24 accused it of accounting fraud and stock manipulation, claims that the conglomerate has refuted as "malicious", "baseless" and a "calculated attack on India".

The group's listed companies collectively lost roughly USD 125 billion in market value in three weeks before some equities recovered in the last few days.
