A roadways bus on Saturday collided head-on with a truck in Haryana's Jind district, killing one and injuring 50.






When a roadways bus crashed head-on with a heavy goods vehicle near a hotel on the Jind-Rohtak national highway on Saturday, a truck driver died and 50 passengers, including children, were injured, PTI reported citing official sources.


The injured were transported to a primary health care facility in Julana, where physicians recommended 20 critically injured passengers to PGIMS, Rohtak, for further treatment.


The District Magistrate and other officials arrived at the scene after getting information about the occurrence and took stock of the situation.


Julana police are looking into the incident.


According to authorities, the roadways bus departed Jind towards Gurgaon early Saturday morning and collided with the truck as soon as it arrived at the Haveli Hotel on the Jind-Rohtak National Highway near Julana.

In 2020, a total of 9,431 accidents were reported, which is 13.82% less than the number reported in the same period in 2019. In 2019, approximately 30 mishaps were reported every day, compared to 26 the previous year, the Times Of India reported. 


According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for 2021, two-wheelers accounted for the greatest number of fatal road accidents (69,240 deaths), accounting for 44.5% of total road accidental deaths, followed by cars (23,531 deaths) (15.1%) and trucks/lorries (14,622 deaths) (9.4%).
