New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a sugar mill in Mohiuddinpur in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut on Saturday, news agency ANI reported.


Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Currently, the employees of the sugar mill, officials from the fire department and police officials are engaged in dousing the flames.






Earlier in the day, fire broke out in a plastic factory in Rail Bazar opposite the Government Railway Police (GRP) Barrack at the Kanpur Central Railway Station.






Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control. No casualties were reported, ANI reported.

In a similar incident earlier this month, a 57-year-old man was charred to death after fire broke out in a paper mill in UP’s Saharanpur.


According to police, the incident took place at Star Paper mill’s godown located in the area under Sadar Bazar police station.


The victim was identified as Lal Bahadur Mandal, who was the in-charge of the paper mill godown. He was on night duty when the mill caught fire and he got trapped inside.
