New Delhi: At least two people have died, while several others are trapped after a portion of the roof of an apartment in Haryana's Gurugram collapsed on Thursday evening, officials informed news agency IANS.
According to reports by ANI, the incident took place at Chintels Paradiso housing complex in Gurugram's Sector 109 where portion of the roof of the sixth floor of D tower of the housing complex collapsed.
As per initial reports, a team of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) team, State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and fire tenders have reached the spot and rescue operations are underway.
Haryana Chief Minister took congnisance of the incident and said that he is personally monitoring the situation. In a tweet, he prayed for everyone's safety.
"Administrative officials, along with SDRF and NDRF teams are busy in the rescue & relief work after the unfortunate collapse of the apartment roof at the Paradiso Housing Complex in Gurugram. I am personally monitoring the situation and I pray for everyone's safety," Khattar tweeted.
The incident reportedly took place at around 6:30 pm and the collapse was so severe that it went on to damage all the roofs till the first floor, causing casualties.
"The number of people trapped in the building's debris is yet to be ascertained but we suspect that around 5-6 could be trapped," Gulshan Kalra, Deputy Director Fire Department, told IANS.
Chintels Paradiso housing complex has a total of 530 flats and over 400 families reside there.
