New Delhi: The Gujarat government has imposed a night curfew in two cities of the state. As per the latest order, the state government has said that a night curfew will be imposed in Ahmedabad and Vadodara from 12 pm to 5 am. According to the order, a night curfew has been announced in these cities from February 18 to 25.


On February 10, the state government had decided to relax the night curfew timings in 8 major cities following a decline in Covid-19 cases. Due to the increase in Covid cases, the state government had imposed a night curfew in 27 cities of Gujarat between 10 pm and 6 am.

However, during this, relaxation was given in some cases such as more than 300 people were allowed to attend the wedding ceremony. Similarly, food delivery service by restaurants was allowed to continue round the clock. 


Decision to end online education system:


Gujarat has seen a sharp decline in coronavirus cases in the last few weeks. In view of this, the state government on Thursday decided to scrap the online education system and said that schools and colleges in the state will be opened from February 21. Also for the first time in nearly two years since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the Gujarat government allowed Anganwadi centres, pre-schools and kindergartens to reopen from Thursday.


Steady decline in new cases 


The new cases of Covid-19 are constantly showing a decline in the state. In the last 15 days, the city has recorded 17,173 new cases. There has been an 80% drop in new cases as compared to 83,177 recorded from January 18 to February 1.
