Goa CM Sawant Allocates Portfolios, Retains Home And Finance | Know More

Sawant, who was sworn-in as the chief minister of Goa for the second consecutive term earlier on March 28, retained the home and finance ministries.

New Delhi: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday allocated portfolios to his eight cabinet colleagues.

Sawant, who was sworn-in as the chief minister of Goa for the second consecutive term earlier on March 28, retained the home and finance ministries.

He also holds the Personnel, Vigilance and Official language portfolios as per the notification issued, ANI reported.

Vishwajit Rane, said to be the chief minister’s political rival, has got the Health and Women and Child Development portfolios.

Rane has also been handed over the charge of Urban Development, Town and Country Planning (TCP) and Forests departments.

Former independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the assembly elections, has been given the Tourism portfolio.

Khaunte, the MLA from Porvorim constituency from the North Goa district, has also been handed over other major departments like Information Technology and Printing and Stationery.

Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate is now Goa’s Revenue, Labour and Waste Management Minister.

Full list of Goa Cabinet portfolio allocation:

  • CM Pramod Sawant: Home, Finance, Personnel, Vigilance and Official Languages departments.
  • Vishwajit Rane: Health and Town and Country Planning, Urban Development, Women and Child, and Forest departments.
  • Rohan Khaunte: Tourism, Information and Technology and Printing and Stationary departments.
  • Atanasio Monserrate: Revenue, Labour and Waste Management portfolios.
  • Ravi Naik: Agriculture, Handicrafts, and Civil Supplies ministries.
  • Subhash Shirodkar: Water Resources, Cooperation and Provedoria portfolios.
  • Nilesh Cabral: Public Works Department (PWD), Legislative Affairs, Environment, and Law and Judiciary.
  • Mauvin Godinho: Transport, Industries, Panchayat and Protocol ministries.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in Goa in the recent assembly elections.

The saffron party, which won 20 seats in the 40-member Goa Assembly, enlisted the support of regional outfit Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and three Independent MLAs to form its government for a third consecutive term.
