Circle Officer, Greater Noida 1st, Nishank Sharma said a first information report (FIR) was registered at the Surajpur police station Thursday evening on a complaint by the wife of Raj, who has accused some of the Genpact officials of abetting the suicide under Indian Penal Code section 306.
Noida: After Genpact India’s Assistant Vice President Swaruj Raj committed suicide on being suspended from his job over sexual harassment allegations, his wife Kriti filed a case against the two women who had alleged that they were sexually harassed by Swaruj. Circle Officer, Greater Noida 1st, Nishank Sharma said a first information report (FIR) was registered at the Surajpur police station on Thursday evening on a complaint by the wife of Raj, who has accused some of the Genpact officials of abetting the suicide under Indian Penal Code section 306. She further added, “The complaint is against the company's management including the officials of the committee probing the matter and the employees who had accused Raj of sexual harassment.”
The body of Swaroop Raj, 35, was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan by his wife at their residence in a high-rise building in Sector 137 on Wednesday and a purported suicide note was recovered from the scene. In the suicide letter, he also wrote that the cases of molestation against him are baseless but he does not have the courage to face them.
Earlier, while talking to ABP News, Swaruj Raj’s wife said that after an internal investigation in the case, the office had suspended him from the job. Kriti said “when I returned from work at night, the door was not open. When I was able to get inside saw Swaruj hanging from the fan.” She further added “Girls have the right to accuse anyone and ruin their life. So today people do not keep female employee.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, he had joined Genpact in 2007 as a process developer and had then climbed the corporate ladder.
The note, addressed to his wife, read "I want to let you know how much I love you. I have been accused by two employees of sexual harassment and trust me I didn't do anything. I know the world will understand it, but you and our families should trust me. The allegations are baseless and the entire Genpact will know about it,".
"Hence, I don't have the courage to face everyone. I want you to be strong and live your life with whole respect, as your husband has not done anything. I am going as everyone will look at me with that eye even if I come clean (sic)," it read.
