Fuel Price Hike: Petrol In Delhi Crosses Rs 100 A Litre As Fuel Price Hiked For Seventh Consecutive Day

New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices were increased for the seventh consecutive day Tuesday. Petrol was hiked by 80 paise a litre while the increase on diesel was 70 paise. The total hike in rates in one week takes it to Rs 4.80 per litre.

According to the new tariff, Petrol in Delhi will now cost Rs 100.21 per litre from the previous rate of 99.41. Diesel in the city will cost Rs 91.47 per litre, which is a hike of 70 paise.

In the commercial capital Mumbai, petrol will cost Rs 115.04 according to the new price. While the price of diesel has been hiked to Rs 99.25. Price of petrol in Mumbai is the highest among metro cities.

Down south, petrol will cost  Rs 105.94 in Chennai, which is a hike of 76 paise. The price of diesel in the city has been increased by 67 paise and will cost Rs 96.

Rates of petrol and diesel vary across the country depending upon taxes levied by states.

This is the seventh consecutive increase in fuel prices by oil companies after a gap of more than four months. In November last year, the government had cut excise duty on fuel in order to provide relief to consumers. Petrol price was at an all-time high when the government slashed duty on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs10 a litre.
