First female president of UP Bar Council, Darvesh Yadav, shot dead in Agra court
Darvesh Yadav had been elected as the president of state’s Bar council two days ago on June 9.
New Delhi: Newly elected Uttar Pradesh Bar Council president Darvesh Yadav was shot dead in Agra district court premises, on Wednesday. She was the first female president of the Council in UP.
As per the information received, she was shot dead by advocate Manish, who later shot himself as well. He has been admitted in hospital and is receiving treatment.
Acting on the information, ADG police along with the force reached the location.
Darvesh Yadav had been elected as the president of state’s Bar council two days ago on June 9. The murder took place during a welcome ceremony held for Darvesh, reports said. She received three bullets including one head shot. She was immediately taken to Pushpanjali Hospital by other advocates, where she was declared dead. She was elected as the President of Bar Council on June 9, in Prayagraj. Advocate Darvesh and advocate Harishankar Singh had got equal number of votes in the election and both were elcted for a period of six months each. Darvesh was elected for the first six months, while Harishankar for the other six months. A resident of Etah Darvesh completed her LLB, LLM from Agra College. She was made the acting president of UP Bar Council in the year 2017. Bar Council of India has condemned Yadav's murder, and has demanded security for its members, and minimum compensation of Rs 50 lakh from UP govt to her family.BREAKING: Newly elected UP Bar Council president shot dead in Agra court.
