Atal Setu: India's Longest Sea Bridge

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewari-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, commonly known as Atal Setu, has been constructed at a colossal cost exceeding Rs 17,840 crore. It spans approximately 21.8 km, comprising a 6-lane bridge with a sea stretch of 16.5 km and a land stretch of 5.5 km. Notably, it holds the distinction of being India's longest bridge and the longest sea bridge in the country.

The purpose of this grand infrastructure project is to enhance connectivity, providing faster access to Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport. Additionally, it is anticipated to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune, Goa, and South India. Furthermore, the Atal Setu is expected to improve connectivity between Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

The foundation stone for the Atal Setu was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2016.
