New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and Anil Sadhu in connection to the death of former state secretary of RJD Shakti Malik. The leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his home in Mugi Farm Road in Purnia district on Sunday.


"Three men shot dead Shakti Malik at his residence this morning. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway," said DSP Anand Pandey on Sunday after the incident.

Superintendent of Police of Purnea Vishal Sharma informed that the FIR was lodged against six people including the RJD leaders  Tejashwi and Tej Pratap.

A report by PTI says that soon after the killing, a video went viral in which Malik accused Tejashwi Prasad Yadav of seeking Rs 50 lakh as a donation to give him a party ticket to contest the poll from Raniganj seat and also threatening to eliminate him if he continues with his good work in the constituency.

The development comes after Tejashwi Yadav was finalized as the Chief Minister face of the grand alliance on Saturday. The announcement was made after days of deliberations over the crucial issue of seat-sharing. Yadav had also vowed to dislodge the government headed by Nitish Kumar.

The opposition coalition comprises of RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, and CPI(M), Yadav’s party got its quota of 144 seats of the 243 seat-strong assembly. Tejashwi said RJD will accommodate old alliance partner Vikashheel Insaan Party (VIP) and JMM its ally in adjoining Jharkhand from its quota. The state will go for elections in 3 phases 28th October, 3rd November, and 7th November. The result of the Bihar elections will be announced on 10th November.
