New Delhi: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha will hold a meeting today at the Singhu Border to decide the future course of action of the agitation reported PTI. Farmer leaders said that they will decide on whether to send the five names to the Centre for a panel on MSP in this meeting. They said that they have not received any formal communication yet from the government on the same.

The government on Tuesday had asked for five names from the SKM to constitute a panel to deliberate on MSP and other issues. The SKM in a statement, later in the day, said that their leaders had received a phone call from the government but did not get any formal response, reported PTI.

The meeting will also discuss the pending demands of the farmers which includes a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers on their produce, withdrawal of cases against farmers, compensation for families of the farmers who lost their lives during the protest.

"Our crucial meeting is tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 am. Along with discussing our pending demands, the SKM will decide the future course of the movement. Since we have not yet got any formal communication from the Centre to submit names of five farmer leaders for a committee on MSP, we will decide in the meeting whether we have to send the names to them," said Darshan Pal, core committee member of the SKM on Friday to PTI.

The Central government had passed a bill on Monday in the Parliament to repeal the three farm laws. The bills were passed without any discussion in the parliament. But the farmers are still continuing the protest as they say that their other demands have not been met yet such as legal guarantee on MSP, withdrawal of cases against farmers during the protest, compensation to the kin of farmers who lost their lives during the protest.

The SKM had written a letter to the Prime Minister raising six key demands as a pre condition to withdraw the farmers’ protest. The SKM said that they have not received any response from the government yet.
