New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday emphasised that there is a need for coordination at the national level to prevent crimes such as circulation of fake currency notes and the smuggling of narcotics and arms.


This needs to be done respecting the spirit of the Constitution and without interfering in the rights of states, he said, as reported by news agency PTI.

Addressing 122 probationary officers of the 2020 batch of the Indian Police Service, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stressed that all officers should pay attention to issues related to the internal security of the country in totality.


“Our Constitution has placed its trust on you to serve the country for 30 to 35 years and you should try to bring the spirit of the Constitution to the ground level fearlessly, because those who take a stand become societal agents of change,” he said, as quoted by PTI.


He emphasised that the officers should never avoid basic policing, further advising that the focus of their activities should be the police station and the focus of information should be the beat officer.


“There is a need for coordination at the national level without interfering with the rights of the states and respecting the spirit of the Constitution to prevent crimes such as smuggling of fake currency, arms smuggling, and narcotics,” he said.


He lauded the police and Central Armed Police Forces for their commendable work done during the COVID-19 pandemic which he said has changed the attitude of the people towards the police.


“We need to take this forward,” he added, addressing the event held at Parliament library in Delhi.

Amit Shah’s Two-Day Visit To Rajasthan


In another important development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a two-day visit to Rajasthan.


As per news agency ANI, the Union Home Minister will spend a night near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan on December 4 i.e. Saturday.


The agency reported top home ministry sources as informing that Amit Shah will stay with BSF personnel during his two-day visit to Rajasthan between December 4 and 5. 


He will visit Jaisalmer on December 4 and meet with BSF personnel guarding the International Border in the region. 


The Home Minister’s visit to Jaisalmer coincides with the 57th Raising Day event of the BSF being celebrated there for the first time. 


Amit Shah will review the security on the Western Border of the country after reaching Jaisalmer on December 4 and closely watch night patrolling being done by BSF personnel, ANI sources said. 


According to them, he will also spend a night with BSF personnel at a Border Outpost in the region. This will be the first time when the Home Minister will be spending a night with BSF personnel near the border. 


Amit Shah will attend the BSF’s Raising Day event on December 5 morning and then leave for Jaipur.
