Farmers have begun their protest demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sunflower seed in Kurukshetra's Shahabad in Haryana. Reacting to the protest, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala slammed PM Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and said there is no MSP law and no farmer is getting the MSP. He said that the government is working to 'beat' farmers and 'disrespect' them. Party MP Deepender Hooda said that Congress will raise the issue in the upcoming monsoon session of parliament.

"Modi ji had said that an MSP law will be brought, so where is it? Neither there is an MSP law nor the farmer is getting MSP. When the farmers protest they only get lathi-charged? Is the government & police working only to beating the farmers and disrespecting them?," Surjewala was quoted as saying by ANI.

Reacting to the same, Congress MP Deepender Hooda said, "We will raise this issue in the upcoming session of Parliament. The slogan of 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan' is now 'Mare Kisaan, Pite Kisaan, Jai Dhanwaan'."

Meanwhile, SDM Kapil Kumar has spoken with the farmers. "...They are saying that Gurnam Singh Charuni be brought among them and their produce be procured at MSP..." he told the media present on ground.
