Farmer Protest: Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has reacted sharply to the passage of a bill to repeal three agricultural laws in the Lok Sabha. Rakesh Tikait says the passage of the bill repealing three agricultural laws in the Lok Sabha is a tribute to 750 farmers who lost their lives during the agitation. Rakesh Tikait, however, has made it clear that the agitation will continue till the rest of the demands are met. SKM has convened an important meeting on December 4.

Rakesh Tikait responded immediately after the bill against three agricultural laws was passed in the Lok Sabha. "The passage of the bill in the Lok Sabha is a tribute to the 750 farmers who lost their lives during the farmers' movement. Our agitation will continue as the government has not acceded to our MSP and other demands.''

However, a final decision was not taken by the United Kisan Morcha to continue the agitation. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha convened an important meeting on November 27. After the meeting, SKM reiterated six demands raised in a letter to the Prime Minister, including legal guarantee of MSP, withdrawal of the draft Electricity Amendment Bill, 2020-2021, and removal of penal provisions on farmers in the Air Quality Management Commission Act 2021 around the National Capital Region.

The agitation also includes the withdrawal of false cases against farmers, arrest, and dismissal of Minister of State Ajay Mishra Teni, compensation and rehabilitation to the families of martyrs of the Kisan movement, and allotment of land for construction of a memorial at Singhu Morcha in their memory. Another important meeting has been called by SKM on December 4.
