Sachin Pilot "expressed his grievances in detail" to the Gandhis and they had a "frank, open and conclusive discussion," said senior Congress leader KC Venugopal.
"Sachin Pilot has committed to working in the interest of the Congress party and the Congress government in Rajasthan," he said, adding that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has decided that a three-member committee would address the issues raised by Pilot and the other rebels.
Congress leaders said the panel will have senior leaders as members and will “hear all the sides and also go into the details of the political turmoil” in the state unit before submitting its report to the high command.
The development comes just 4 days ahead of the special session of the Rajasthan Assembly where Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was expected to push for a trust vote to prove his majority. Congress sources have also confirmed that all the rebel MLAs will be present in the assembly to cast their votes.
Though it is still unclear about Pilot's next role in the party uncertainty for the Rajasthan government run by Ashok Gehlot for a month ever since Pilot and his group of 18 lawmakers parked themselves in Delhi and Gurugram in early July ends today.
Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi welcomed back Sachin Pilot in a tweet. He congratulates Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Randeep Surjewala, and Ajay Maken.
The Rajasthan Assembly will convene on 14th August.
