New Delhi: At a time when a significant chunk of people in the country still have to get their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, an elderly man from Bihar claimed that he had been vaccinated as many as 11 times.
According to a report by India Today, an 84-year-old man from Orai village of Madhepura district managed to receive 11 shots of Covid-19 vaccine and was caught before he could take his 12th dose.
Identified as Brahmadev Mandal, the man said that he took 11 doses because the vaccines had beneficial effects on him.
"I benefitted a lot from the vaccine. This is why I have been taking it repeatedly," the report quoted the old man as saying.
When asked why did took so many doses of the vaccine, Mandal said, "Government has made a wonderful thing [vaccine]."
Mandal, who is a retired postal department employee, took his first Covid-19 vaccine dose in February last year and went on to take doses in the months of March, May, June, July and August.
Interestingly, he managed to get 11 jabs at the same public health centre by December 30, 2021.
The man allegedly provided his Aadhaar card and his phone number eight times and used his voter ID card and his wife’s phone number on the other three occasions, the report added.
Officials have said that an enquiry would be launched to know how he managed to evade the authorities and take vaccines so many times.
The matter will be investigated to find out how Mandal managed to take so many doses of the vaccine, India Today quoted Amarendra Pratap Shahi, the civil surgeon of the Madhepura district as saying.
